Perrine Valli, Les Renards des surfaces
Swiss - 2015 - 90 minutes

Friday 25th of September - 8pm
Open session
Petite salle - MAC  de Créteil

The surface area is like a football field. The fox, the player who manages to avoid the opponent team’s defense… with this new proposal from Perrine Valli, her choreographic work continues to question feminine sexual identity. In this new step, the choreographer wonders why there are so few feminist men. And she asks the question directly to those at stake – in a hybrid project which rolls out in common space between feminine and masculine. Referring to XY de l'identité masculine, by Elisabeth Badinter, Perrine Valli proposes a series of scenes created with different male dancers, to explore this subject with her, each male artist in dialogue with a feminine presence: dancer Tamara Bacci… An unprecedented journey into an artistic no man's land that is very conducive to further thinking on the subject.

Perrine Valli has a Franco-Swiss background and has acquired rich technical training, at the Lyon Conservatoire National, the Toulouse Choreographic Development Centre, the London Contemporary Dance School among others, and performs works by the choreographers Estelle Héritier and Cindy Van Acker.

Perrine Valli founded the Association Sam-Hester in 2005 and has created over a dozen works. Her creations have been performed on many stages in Switzerland (ADC, Journées de la Danse Contemporaine Suisse, Arsenic, Sevllin 36, Tanzhaus…), France (Rencontres Choreographiques Internationales de Seine Saint Denis, Maison de la Danse de Lyon, Quartz…) Spain (Mercat de les Flors, Teatro Cicca…), Belgium (Budascoop), the Netherlands (Melkweg), Germany (Tanz im August festival), Russia (TsEKH), Japan (Institut franco-japonais, TPAM, Yokohama Dance Collection…) and Australia (Melbourne Festival). The issue of sexual identity is at the core of her research as is the articulation of the relation between narration and abstraction in her choreographic work.
